The Executive Director/CEO, NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib today inaugurated the Committee on National Summit on Primary Health Care. The summit which aims at identifying, deciding and developing consensus and commitments on strategies to urgently revamp the Primary Health Care in Nigeria is scheduled to hold in August 2017. The ED noted that the summit would serve as a platform for cross-fertilization of ideas arising from relevant stakeholders with responsibility for promoting primary health care in Nigeria and emphasized the Agency’s commitment to ensure the control of preventable diseases and improve access to and quality of basic health services and care.
In his remarks the Chairman, House Committee on PHC, Hon. Muhammad Usman assured the Agency of the full support of the National assembly stressing that the committee was already carrying out much advocacy toward improving PHC even to the Presidential level. He said that 100% of his personal constituency project was on health care. Also speaking, The ES, FCT PHCB, Dr. Mathew, congratulated the ED for bringing up innovations and selecting a capable team that would yield results. He described the plan as one that is on the side of the people. The Chairman, NIFT, Dr. Ben Anyene advised on the need for more emphasis be put on creating awareness on the idea that is meant to be driven.
