It is no gainsaying that shelter is the most important of all human needs but the economic situation of the country has made it difficult for staff to own their houses even with the various housing schemes introduced by the Federal Government and Private Developers towards making affordable housing available to Civil Servants.

In realization of this, the Executives of the Agency’s branch of the Medical & Health Workers Union with support from the Management decided that we take our destinies in our hands.

The Estate came into being as part of welfare package for members of the Medical & Health Workers Union (MHWUN), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) branch through a contributory scheme.

This housing project is the first of its kind in the history of the Agency. It is sited on 18.25 hectares of land. The land has Right of Occupancy (RofO) and the building plan approval is being processed for approval. The land would have a total number of Two Hundred and Forty Three (243) units of Duplexes and Bungalows on completion.

At the ground breaking ceremony of the estate named after the present Executive Director, Dr. Ado J. G. Muhammad in recognition of his efforts towards the realization of this noble project were the Chairman Governing Board of the Agency, Alh. Bashari Aminu OFR, Iyan Zazzau, the Executive Director, Dr. Ado J.G. Muhammad, OON, Directors of the Agency, Chairman FCT chapter of MHWUN, Comrade Awok Thomas, Executive officers of the Agency’s chapter of MHWUN and a host of other staff.

In his Welcome address, the MHWUN Chairman, NPHCDA Chapter, Comrade Aliyu Jalaludden A. thanked everyone present. He stated that with encouragement from staff and management of the Agency, the union was able to move thus far. He appreciated pieces of advice from members of staff especially the Director of Admin & Human Resource. Further he solicited for support towards the building of infrastructures in the estate.

Speaking during the occasion, the Director Admin & Human Resource thanked the Executive Director for his support and the Executive of the union for their doggedness and team spirit. She expressed her joy for being part of the historic event. She further advised everyone not to relent until the project is completed.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Agency praised the union for this laudable effort and pledged to assist in any way possible to ensure that the planned infrastructure at the estate is completed to enable other developments take place.

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Agency also pledged the commitment of the Board to support all projects aimed at motivating and boosting the morale of officers of the Agency. He thereafter assisted by the Executive Director of the Agency laid the foundation blocks for the take off of the project.

We say a big congratulation to staff and management of the Agency on this event which will see all interested staff of the Agency whether at the Headquarters or the zonal offices owing their houses in Pyanko- Karshi, Nassarawa State, a few kilometers from Abuja.
