NEMCHIC Trains WDC National Trainers on Revised Operational Guideline

As part of it’s community engagement strategies on RMNCAH+N, the National Emergency Maternal and Child Health Intervention Centre (NEMCHIC) has concluded a 5-day National Training of Trainers (NToT) on revised Ward Development Committee (WDC) Operational Guideline.

The training, which held in Nasarawa state on 11th – 15th May 2022, aims to strengthen the capacity and functionality of WDC to to drive community involvement and ownership of interventions to reduce preventable maternal and under-5 mortalities in Nigeria.

Participants included NPHCDA State Coordinators, Partners, PMs SEMCHIC, and State Health Educators drawn from Kaduna, Anambra, Cross River, Gombe, Lagos and Nasarawa states.

The National Trainers are expected to cascade the training and subsequently support the roll out of community health development activities in their respective states.

The revised WDC operational guideline provides clear orientation on Ward Health Systems, election and inauguration of WDC Executives, Community Action Plan, WDC meeting scheduling and steps for conducting meetings, composition of the facility management committee, their roles, responsibilities, and Terms of Reference, etc.
