Dr. Mohammed Jibril Abdullahi, Director Planning Research and Statistics.
He was born on 27th April 1960 in Likpata, Edu LGA of Kwara State. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he bagged the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1985. He also has a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Lagos in 2001. He joined the service of the Agency in 2000 as Principal Medical Officer GL14 and had risen through the ranks to a Director. Dr Abdullahi has served at various levels in the Agency. He was at various times, Zonal Technical Officer in the North West and North Central zones and at the headquarters in the defunct department of Health Systems Development and department of Planning Research and Statistics. He was the pioneer Director of Primary Health Care Systems Development from where he was deployed to PRS department in 2012.
He was also the National Coordinator of the Midwives Service Scheme. Dr Abdullahi is one of the leading experts in primary health care development and has been described as the a resource and encyclopaedia of primary health care in Nigeria.
He is well travelled and has participated in several local and international workshops & seminars including the World Health Assembly, WHO/AFRO Regional Committee Meetings and World Bank Institute (Washington DC). He also participated at the International Conference on Primary Health Care and Health Systems in Africa (Ouagadougou 2008) and International Anniversary Conference marking 35 years of the Declaration of Alma - Ata on Primary Health Care.
Dr Abdullahi has attended many leadership and management courses including the Global Health Leadership Forum and served in several strategic committees on PHC and Health. He has also contributed to numerous publications and development of PHC Resource materials including the National Guidelines for Development of PHC Systems in Nigeria, MDG-DRG Funded Midwives Service Scheme, The Ward Health System, Minimum Health Care Package. He is a contributor to the Nigeria Health Review 2007 and many other strategic documents. He is happily married with children.
