DR BASSEY BASSEY OKPOSEN - DIRECTOR DISEASE CONTROL AND IMMUNIZATION

 

 

Dr Bassey Bassey Okposen  who is currently the Director Disease Control and Immunization at the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Headquarters, Abuja, Nigeria is a public health physician and an immunization expert. He was the pioneer Programme Manager of the National Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (NERICC) (2017 – 2020). He also served as a member of the Global Task Force on Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030).

Dr Bassey Bassey Okposen earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MB BCH) from the University of Calabar, Nigeria (1988); and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria (2006). He is a member of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Prior to working at NPHCDA, Dr Bassey Okposen worked as the Medical Officer in-charge of Primary Health Care services, Guyuk, Guyuk Local Government Authority, Adamawa State (1990 – 2000).  At NPHCDA, he served as the Zonal Cold Chain and Logistics Officer for the NPHCDA South West Zone (2000 – 2003), Zonal Coordinator for the South West Zone (2003 – 2007); and Zonal Coordinator for the South South Zone (2007 – 2013). Dr Bassey Bassey Okposen is currently the Director Disease Control and Immunization.
