FIELD VISIT TO PHC OBUBURU ADAVI L.G.A, KOGI STATE

The Executive Director/CEO NPHCDA, Dr. Muyi Aina, was on an inspection tour of the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC), Obuburu, Adavi LGA of Kogi State, during his working visit to the state on Thursday 21st August 2025. The health facility is one of the PHCs being revitalized as part of the PHC revitalization initiative of the Agency, which is a partnership between the Federal and State governments.


Dr Aina said the upgrading of the PHC Obuburu is being funded through the Impact project. ‘These are resources mobilized by the federal government, which are then lent to the states for implementation’, he said. He added that the health facility receives quarterly funds for operations under the federal government Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF). facility, which is one of those facilities that receives resources quarterly for operations.


The ED/CEO expressed his satisfaction with the pace of work at the PHC, saying, “I am very impressed with the quality of the refurbishment. If you compare it to what this facility was before, it was just a small structure with a couple of rooms. But now, you can see it’s a full-fledged Level 2 facility with residences for the health workers. It has all the space that we need, and the equipment—the laboratory, clinical, and other equipment and furniture—is already on its way.”


Dr. Aina who commended the Kogi state Governor, His Excellency, Ahmed Usman Ododo and his team for the quality of work, said several other PHCs are being revitalized in the State. He was accompanied on the tour by NPHCDA North Central Zonal Director, Engr. Onojo Otowo, Kogi State Commissioner of Health, Dr Abdulaziz Adams, and the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), and other NPHCDA and SPHCDA staff.
