Polio Outbreak Response Program (POLIO EOC)

The Polio Outbreak Response Program, led by NPHCDA, focuses on early detection, timely and rapid response to poliovirus transmission through surveillance and Supplemental Immunization Activities (SIAs). Surveillance efforts include Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) Case search and Environmental sampling. The SIAs are implemented as National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs); Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) or as Targeted Local Responses (TLR) in specific geographies to contain the virus. Other Polio activities conducted include the special intervention activities - In-Between Round Activities (IBRA), Identify, Enumerate, and Vaccinate (IEV) to address immunity gaps and reach chronically missed children. Reaching Every Settlement (RES) and Reaching Inaccessible Children (RIC) ensure coverage in hard-to-reach/security compromised areas through collaboration with local actors and security forces.
