Targeted Local Responses (TLR)

Objective

Proactive response to be ahead of the virus and immediately contain it within a smaller geography through focused, localized intervention.

The TLR strategy is designed to target high-risk wards with localized vaccination responses. Selection criteria include wards with Hot Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) cases, high non-compliance rates, clustering of AFP cases, or any PV2 detection alongside evidence of low population immunity. Since 2024, Nigeria has implemented multiple rounds of TLRs, successfully reaching over 7.3 million children across priority wards in 2024 and 2025
