Executive Director NPHCDA Commends Kogi PFMOs & National Health Fellows

NPHCDA Executive Director/CEO, Dr. Muyi Aina has commended the National Health Fellows (NHFs) and the Performance and Financial Accountability Officers (PFMOs) deployed to all the LGAs in Kogi State by the Federal government, for the evolution in their feedback, proposing innovative solutions to teething problems in the Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities, and owning their owning their roles. Speaking during an interactive session with the NHFs and PFMOs, Dr. Aina said the vision of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in establishing the NHF and PFMO program is ‘to build a cohort of leaders – emerging or future leaders in public health, primary healthcare, and other associated fields.’


Dr Aina informed the NHFs and PFMOs that Nigeria operates a ‘national health system that includes the federal government, the state government, and in fact, the local government’, working together in unison. He then provided insights into how the National Health Systems (NHS) works, and that all the three tiers of government are working together to revitalize PHCs across the country to ensure every Nigerian has equitable access to quality primary health care services.
The ED/CEO interactive session with NHFs and PFMOs was part of the ED/CEO working visit to Kogi state on Thursday 21 August 2025. Present at session were NPHCDA North Central Zonal Director, Engr. Onojo Otowo, Kogi State Commissioner of Health, Dr Abdulaziz Adams, and the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), Muazu Musa, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching, Dr Stephen Shuaibu, Acting CMD, Kogi State Specialist Hospital; Dr. Folagbade, Acting CMD of PAAU Teaching Hospital, Dr Nayo Anthony, and Kogi state SWAp desk officer, Dr. Bola Kelvi, and other NPHCDA and SPHCDA staff.
