Healthy Heart Africa (HHA) is an initiative aimed at combating hypertension by raising awareness, enhancing screening services, and improving treatment to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. Since August 2022, NPHCDA in collaboration with population Services International (PSI Nigeria) implement this program, supporting 357 health facilities across 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The program has screened 20,060,750 individuals for high blood pressure, detected 2,755, 272 cases, and linked 1,439,793 hypertensive patients to care and treatment (Go-green App). Hypertension treatment is now integrated into primary healthcare services working closely with Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOH&SW); the program emphasizes sustainability and long-term capacity building. The HHA program employs a comprehensive primary healthcare approach that includes:
